Land AcknowledgemenT

A formal statement that recognizesIndigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of this land and respects the enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories. Land Acknowledgements can be presented verbally or visually through signage, short theatre presentations, or simple spoken-word greetings. (47)(48)

Leading Role

A role central to the story and without which the film would not exist. This role is played by an actor who appears in most scenes of the narrative, and the actor’s name is often in the on-screen credits at the beginning of the film in addition to appearing in the complete end credits. (10) (11)

LGBTQIA+

Acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual. An umbrella term to refer to the community as a whole and intentionally includes “QIA” to raise awareness of Queer, Intersex, and Asexual communities. (49)
